We were delighted to be asked to carry out some work at The Arium in Leeds (www.theariumleeds.co.uk) for Leeds City Council. It is the largest local authority nursery in the country, and we were asked to not only install but design the wiring containment in the greenhouse, and we felt that we rose to the occasion.
This picture shows how we adapted as a company when we entered the horticulture sector. Typically, this sector has fallen outside of the electrical regulations, primarily because it has a number of multi-skilled staff working on different systems. However, as time progresses, insurance companies want to know that the installations are safe, and insist on safety checks. Qudos offer a cost-effective solution and carry out installations to BS7671 wiring regulations.
The Arium job features a wiring containment that we had specially designed which is capable of spanning 6m gaps. This means cables are adequately protected and gives us wiring routes to get to the specific parts of the greenhouse where equipment is situated.
This method is cost-effective as it only involves a bracket on each post, no additional supports required.
