We like to be at the forefront of innovation when it comes to electrical and horticultural installations, and vertical (urban) farming is right there at the head of the queue.
As Philips partners, we are well placed to help with setting up vertical farms to ensure they are efficient and cost-effective.
The threats to traditional farming are great and are increasing every year. From a skyrocketing population to climate change and people’s awareness of the damage we are doing to the environment, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to grow the quantities of food needed at an affordable price.
At Qudos we worked with London’s first commercial aquaponic urban farm; aquaponics combines hydroponics, where plants are grown in low level LED lighting and nutrients dissolved in water, with aquaculture, where fish waste is used to fertilise the plants, and the plants clean the water for the fish.
We installed Philips lighting production modules as well as Priva Blue ID to control the environment and ensure optimum plant growth.
